The Advocate magazine reports that Seattle Pastor Mark Driscoll said that masturbation is the new low road to homosexuality. He said...‎"However, any man who does so without his wife in the room is bordering on homosexuality activity, particularly if he’s watching himself in a mirror and being turned on by his own male body.”

Looking in a mirror? What? I remember when I was 13 years old looking in a mirror. But i gotta tell ya, I don't know ANYONE who looks in a mirror while masturbating. Except now. Pastor Mark Driscoll of the Seattle Mars Hill Church. I think that this man has been obsessing with male bodies including his own. Naturally it begs the question: is Mark Driscoll another closeted gay minister? I mean, come on here... what possible agenda for Christ is furthered by a conversation of masturbation and mirrors? The only agenda I can think of is his own repressed sexuality. The other day I was getting my hair cut and the designer asked me what I wanted her to do. I said, I wanna look in the mirror and say, "Oh, yeah! I wanna have sex with you!" Funny story. True story.

I sent an email to mirror man Mark Driscoll at life@marshillchurch.org and I left the following comment on his Mars Hill Facebook page:

Woman has fondness for canned goods.
"I just read the news article about your Pastor, Mark Driscoll, describing masturbation while looking at yourself in a mirror. What is that all about? Is that something you would say if Jesus were in the room? I think your pastor has some deeply repressed issues. If he is gay, then he should just accept himself and quit bashing gay people. I found that article disturbing. Your pastor is spreading hatred towards gays while he himself apparently masturbates in front of a mirror. That article did no justice for Christianity. Thanks for listening."

Here is a video clip of Mark Driscoll. Interestingly, the content of the video was switched out. Gone is the

masturbation rant and in its place is a long list of how great he is and where you can go listen to him speak. The pastor reminds me of a couple of ex lovers. You can sense that he is some kind of kink in him. Considering that he condemns teh gayes, he might be bi-sexual.  Who knows? Who cares? Mark: preach the gospel of love and quit worrying about your sins. God loves you; all of you.

  1. Actually, I think Driscoll is probably gay. He wears tight t-shirts and looks somewhat effeminate. He preaches against homosexuality, and usually whatever a preacher preaches against the most is the very thing he has trouble with. So it wouldn't surprise me at all if Driscoll is gay.

  2. Just the other day I was commenting that people tend to wear their issues on their sleeves. Whatever consumes your passion, good or bad, tends to be what you are.

  3. I have long wondered if Mark Driscoll is a closeted gay man. He routinely points out men in our culture who act like "sissies," he often references things and people who are "effeminate." (Those are his wildly inappropriate words, not mine.) He seems to have some compulsion to routinely point out, publicly, how into sex with his wife he is.

And every time I look at him on TV, all I see is this look of fear on his face. Like he's just waiting to be found out.

He reminds me A LOT of Ted Haggard. Haggard was captured on film bragging to Nancy Pelosi, (in her documentary), about how Christians have the best sex life. He and other men from the church were bragging about how often they had sex with their wives and how often they brought their wives to climax. (According to them, multiple times a day.) They talked about this standing right in the entrance to their church. I remember thinking how odd and inappropriate it was at the time. Kind of a "though doth protest too much" scenario.

Sure enough, not long after out comes the information about Haggard's homosexuality, although he describes himself now as bisexual.

Mark Driscoll strikes me as another person who is walking down the same path.

It would be nice if he could just be honest about who he is.

In the meantime, it seems like he's trying to keep an iron grip on the church and everyone in it, in an effort to protect HIMSELF. He seems like he's coming unglued, to me. I predict the situation in that church will only get uglier.

  4. To Anon on Mar 7: I thank you for your comments! Indeed he looks scared and the tendency of guilty people is to control the information. He has an iron grip on his church, his viewpoints, his public image and his sex life. He controls all the information that goes out. But what he can't control is the "leakage" that is detected in his nonverbal behavior. Thanks for writing. You are spot on.

  5. Oops, one giant mistake in my comment. I meant documentary filmmaker ALEXANDRA Pelosi, (not Nancy Pelosi!) LOL
